- Colour changes on contact with caustics, then remains in a colour-changed state when neutralisation is complete; helps identify the best time to handle with the least amount of risk
- Instantly absorbs up to 50% concentrations of potassium hydroxide and other strong chemical caustics
- Gelling agents solidify caustics during neutralisation; prevents them from leaching out of mat
